THE 5 MOST WATCHED ARCHICAD TUTORIALS SO FAR IN 2020

I had a look through my ASM Techbase Youtube Channel analytics last week and thought

it would be good to share the top 5 most watched Archicad tutorials for 2020. I was not too surprised to see these tutorials topping the list, as they explain some of Archicad's more difficult challenges when it comes to 3D modeling.

Starting with 5th place: HOW TO MODEL A PERGOLA PLACE

This tutorial has actually always been one of the front runners since I shared it on ASM Techbase Youtube Channel. The pergola place is done with the shell tool but one of the challenges is how to cut the shell tool to create the horizontal long wooden slats.

The second challenge is how to model the arched wooden beams which hold the structure up. If you got some spare time I recommend to watch this.

In 4th place: HOW TO MODEL A MOSQUE DOME

This tutorial came about because I had quite a few requests from my ASM Techbase Youtube Channel subscribers. Using the shell too to create a round Mosque roof is obviously not hard, however, adding a certain pattern to the round dome in 3D certainly is not easy.

For example, you can notice that the diamond shape starting at the bottom of the dome has do become smaller when getting closer to the top. This method can be applied to other structures or designs. If it is something you want to use on a future project then this tutorial is worth watching.

In 3rd place: HOW TO MODEL A WAVED ROOF SHAPE

I got inspired to model this waved roof shape, believe it or not, after I came across a great animal photo of a Cobra. Looking at this photo I was thinking, mmhh this would make for a nice roof shape, let's see if Archicad can create something similar to this.

As you can see by the below 3D model it worked out quite well !

The method shared in this Archicad tutorial can be applied to many designs.

Coming in 2nd place: HOW TO MODEL LANDSCAPE

This tutorial is very popular. Modeling a 3D landscape is difficult when working with non flat surfaces. Creating pathways, walls, planter areas, grass etc. when we have a lot of different slopes or need to connect flat areas which are on different height levels require some special skills that involve working with the mesh tool. If you know how to use the mesh tool correctly, it is quite powerful and you can create sloping landscape models quite fast. Check it out below.

The winner in 1sth place is: HOW TO MODEL A CURVED & BENT GLASS FACADE

I was almost expecting this to be number 1. From the day of the upload to my ASM Techbase Youtube Channel, the views increased weekly at a high rate and are now at over 30'000 views ! Have you seen it? The Archicad tutorial shows you how to create a smoothed curved glass facade in Archicad including the window frames, this tutorial is a must to watch. As you can see in the image below the curved facade is not just curved "on the floor plan" but also in Section. Creating this so smooth in Archicad is a bit of a challenge or is it ? See and decide for yourself.
